The Marjorie Moore Child Care Development Center is located across from the Berlin Branch YMCA office at 362 Main Street, Kensington, CT 06037.
In 1976, the Berlin-Kensington YMCA opened one of Connecticut's first suburban child development centers dedicated to providing caring, quality, affordable day care for local children. During the 1990's, the center continued to expand its services. The preschool program was able to provide care for more than 55 children per day.
In 2002, this commitment to quality and excellence continued as the center underwent a complete modernization and expansion. Adding 1400 square feet of space, a full service kitchen, as well as a grass play yard for the children are a few of the highlights. Providing high quality child care to the families of Berlin and surrounding towns for over 30 years has been one of the cornerstones of the Berlin-Kensington YMCA.
Our philosophy is to provide a safe, healthy, caring environment for your child. We provide times of active play and quiet play throughout the day in the areas of school readiness (writing, social and emotional development, pre-reading, math concepts) and hands on activities (science, history, geography, music, Spanish). From time to time, special guests will visit the center as well. Weather permitting, outdoor play is planned each day. This nurturing atmosphere helps in developing the whole child, spirit, mind and body.
The children in the preschool program engage in adventurous, hands on activities that encourage independence, self confidence and creativity. Children are led through the program's challenging curriculum by nurturing, educated and experienced staff. Experiences with math, science, social studies as well as pre-writing and pre-reading skills prepare your preschoolers for kindergarten.
Kindergarten- This enrichment program is designed to reinforce the fundamentals of early childhood development. Some programmatic features include hands on math, science, culture and Spanish lessons. This learning environment also builds strong social skills, which your children learn through play, games, group projects and field trips.
